D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, Troy, Mich., and sister shop N.W. Ayer & Partners, Detroit, will split global advertising duties for the online purchasing exchange for automotive suppliers being readied by General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and DaimlerChrysler. GM tapped the two roster shops before the other two carmakers joined the as-yet-unnamed start-up. Most advertising will be business-to-business, with Ayer handling the U.S. and D'Arcy the rest of the world, said an executive close to the situation.
