D'Arcy tipped to snatch $15 million account of Brazil's Varig from Y&R

Published on .

RIO DE JANEIRO--Varig, Brazil's leading airline, is expected to announce by Nov. 26 a change of advertising agency as part of its marketing plans for 2000, according to industry sources.

Salles/D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles is widely tipped to take over the airline's advertising business from Young & Rubicam, the incumbent for the last five years.

A move from Y&R has been expected for some time following the departure earlier this year of the agency's president, Alexandre Gama, to open his own agency, Neogama.

Salles DMB&B holds the TAM airline business.
