NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Williams Whittle, Alexandria, Va., has reached a verbal agreement to acquire the client list of Goldberg Marchesano Partners, a Washington-based agency.

Rob Whittle, CEO of Williams Whittle, said Goldberg Marchesano co-founder Norman Goldberg and eight other employees will join Williams Whittle, but would not comment on the dollar price of the deal.

Goldberg Marchesano gained recognition because of advertising created for Ikea, the Swedish furniture maker, in 1989. The agency was the company's first U.S.-based shop.
