Designer Karl Lagerfeld and the Parfums International division of Unilever's Elizabeth Arden Co. are teaming up for the conglomerate's first global fragrance introduction. Actress Daryl Hannah stars in the $40 million print, TV and out-of-home campaign. Created in-house, print ads for Sun Moon Stars were shot by Peter Lindbergh, while David Lynch did the 30-second network TV spots. In Europe, commercials will also air in movie theaters, and print ads will be seen at transit shelters and on buses. For the launch, Arden will once again use controversial split covers, including the front cover of Elle and the back covers of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.
