Dayton Hudson buys cataloger

Dayton Hudson Corp., Minneapolis, said it is acquiring Rivertown Trading Co., St. Paul, Minn., a multi-catalog marketer, for approximately $120 million. Dayton Hudson is interested in leveraging its database marketing and fulfillment expertise for future Internet retailing opportunities. Rivertown's 1998 revenues are expected to be about $195 million. Its catalogs include Signals, Wireless and Seasons. Rivertown is a unit of Greenspring Co., the for-profit arm of Minnesota Communications Group, which owns Minnesota Public Radio.
