Dayton Hudson plans to publish magazine

Dayton Hudson Corp. is launching its own controlled-circulation magazine to showcase upscale advertising. Starting in February, Today Special Edition will be published six to eight times per year in Chicago, Detroit and Minneapolis, Crain's Chicago Business reports today. Up to 50% of available ad pages will be sold to companies such as Ralph Lauren, Jones New York and Tommy Hilfiger at rates comparable to those of glossy city magazines. The title, with planned circulation of 1.2 million, will be mailed to heavy charge-card users.
