Mr. Folino, who has put in stints at Wieden & Kennedy, TBWA/Chiat/Day and Fallon Worldwide, starts in January. He will report to Dana Anderson, president-CEO of the Chicago office, which counts among its accounts McDonald’s Corp., Anheuser-Busch and Dell.
Mr. Folino, 41, most recently was chief creative officer at Dailey & Associates, West Hollywood, Calif. He left Dailey during the summer and has been freelancing since then.
The hiring of Mr. Folino ends the agency’s long-running search to replace Mr. Scarpelli. Mr. Scarpelli was promoted to the top creative job for DDB Worldwide earlier this year.

Before joining Dailey in 2002, Mr. Folino spent nearly two years as a creative director at TBWA, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Prior to that, he logged in a couple years at Fallon’s Los Angeles satellite office and also worked at Wieden.
