HELSINKI-- DDB Worldwide has expanded further into the Nordic region, following the company's acquisition of 80% of the shares in Helsinki-based advertising and marketing agency MicroMedia. Shares in the Finnish company were bought from the Esko Reinonpoika Alanko family. MicroMedia had revenues of $6.5 million in 1998. The Alanko family will retain a 20% interest. Following the takeover, MicroMedia will merge into Brand Sellers DDB in Helsinki. The Helsinki office also has responsibility for Brand Sellers DDB's business and customer relationships in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
