Dec. 7 ad rejected

Published on .

The New York Times chose not to publish a full-page ad that Youth Liberal Party, a conservative Japanese group wanted to appear Thursday, the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The ad denied that Japan committed atrocities during World War II. A spokeswoman for the Times said the decision was made by Publisher Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Jr., who was particularly concerned over the ad's claim the rape of Nanking had not occurred.
