Delhaize launches grocery service via Web

Published on .

BRUSSELS -- Caddy Home, the telephone home delivery service of Belgium supermarket group Delhaize Le Lion, is launching a virtual supermarket on its Web site.

The virtual supermarket service will be available in the same towns as the telephone version, which has been running for 10 years in Brussels and Antwerp. Ghent will be added later this year.

Clients can modem their orders of a morning and have their groceries delivered that evening. Fresh meat cannot be delivered on short notice and must be ordered 24-hours in advance. Payment must be made on delivery. Caddy Home charges its clients $8 per delivery.
