Dentsu opens regional office in Bangkok

BANGKOK -- Dentsu Inc has promoted Yasuo Yoshitoe, former president andmanaging director of its Thai subsidiary, to head a new Bangkok-basedregional office for Southeast Asia.

Shigeto Shiraishi, an executive with the parent company in Tokyo, has beennamed to replace Yoshitoe at Dentsu (Thailand). Yoshitoe will be managingdirector of the new office.

Thailand was picked as the regional center because of its strategiclocation. Also, the firm has established a strong base in Thailand, withprojected billings this year of about $50 million, up 10% over 1995. DY&R(Thailand), Dentsu's joint venture with Young & Rubicam, will also recordbillings of about $50 million this year, also up 10% over last year. Dentsualready has a presence in Burma and is planning to make inroads intoVietnam early next year through a joint venture. The agency is nowconducting feasibility studies for other markets in the region where itdoes not currently operate.
