Desktop News adds free news ticker

Published on .

Desktop News is now offering for free from its site a Java-based desktop news ticker that lets any news publisher provide content for free. Users choose which news sources' story headlines they want to see scrolling across their desktops; advertiser messages appear between headlines, but not more frequently than every fifth headline. Advertisers at launch include NECX, Infospace, Cybermax and PC Importers; ad rates run $4 per thousand impressions.
