Published on .

The "Breakaway" TV campaign for General Motors Corp.'s 1998 Cadillac DeVille breaks this week with a slice-of-life approach focusing on Chicago, the Carolinas and California's Monterey area. "Breakaway Chicago," the first of the spots, features the city's landmarks, lifestyle and jazz and blues background, with Anita Baker singing. "Breakaway Carolina," featuring Ray Charles, breaks in December, and "Breakaway Monterey" will debut in April. The spots, produced in both national and local versions, focus on the DeVille's performance and contemporary image. D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, Troy, handles.
