Dial cuts back

Dial Corp., Phoenix, said it will cut its workforce by 250 people and sell off underperforming brands as part of a streamlining plan. The company didn't say which products are for sale, but said it was retrenching to "refocus on our key brands." Those include Dial soaps, Purex detergents, Armour Star food products and Renuzit air fresheners. Dial also said Scott McHenry has been named senior VP-marketing and sales. He was formerly a partner at McKinsey & Co., where he co-headed the North American consumer package goods practice.
