Digimarc wins $60 million investment from Philips, Macrovision

Digimarc Corp., provider of digital watermark technology and applications, secured about $60 million in funding from Royal Philips Electronics and Macrovision Corp. The company plans to target new markets for digital watermarking opportunities and accelerate marketplace adoption of such watermarking. Philips now owns 12% of Digimarc, and Macrovision has increased its stake from 7% to 12.5%. Digital watermarking is a method of digitally copyrighting material sent over the Internet and other digital devices.
