Digital TV standard gets FCC nod

Digital television moved a giant step closer to the living rooms of American households yesterday when the FCC formally approved a compromise digital TV standard that was nine years in the making. The battle over the future of digital TV, however, is far from over. Still looming is congressional debate over the need for digital TV spectrum auctions.
