(Aug. 17, 2001) -- Island ECN has awarded its $15 million creative account to DiMassimo Brand Advertising, New York, agency president Mark DiMassimo confirmed.

From an initial consideration of nearly 20 agencies, Island ECN, a trading company based in New York, whittled the review to two agencies. DiMassimo bested MDC Communications Corp.'s Margeotes/Fertitta & Partners, New York.

"It's an incredible account, and we're delighted to be chosen," Mr. DiMassimo said. "They have smart people, a bright future, and it's a profitable business that doesn't need fixing, just to be taken to the next level."

Weiden & Kennedy and DiNoto Lee, both New York, were rumored to have made the cut to the four finalists. Incumbent Interpublic Group of Cos.' Bozell, New York, declined to defend the account. -- Rich Thomaselli
