North America President Bob Horvath takes on Mr. Von Kennel's prior responsibilities as chief executive of that region, and Michael Sugzda, recently hired from WPP Group's Wunderman, New York, becomes North American president.
Growing the global brand
Rapp's regional offices, which previously reported into Omnicom Group's Diversified Agency Services division, will now report to Mr. Von Kennel, who said the move is about creating consistent offerings office-to-office, as well as helping to grow the global brand of the largest marketing-services agency worldwide, according to Advertising Age's analysis.
"We are beginning to see a few of our clients with global operations asking for more global solutions," Mr. Von Kennel said.
One thing that's not immediately in the offing, said Tom Harrison, chairman-CEO of Diversified Agency Services, is an alignment that would have Rapp become part of ad agency network DDB Worldwide. Omnicom has been working in recent months to equip its largest ad agencies with marketing services shops.
"There's been no decision made on that," Mr. Harrison said. "If there's enough business to warrant it, maybe we'll go back and look at it. But it's not on the menu right now."
