(May 31, 2001) -- The Direct Marketing Association trimmed 14 jobs, OR 7% of its work force, in response to increased economic pressures. The layoffs were across the organization.

A spokeswoman said the association "took a look at everything and tried to find ways" to be more efficient, such as transferring live seminars to online workshops and outsourcing conference registration. -- Cara Beardi
