Discovery broadens scope on Web

Discovery Channel Online rolls out its new Web site in preview July 1 through September, assisted by magazine designer Roger Black. Up to 1,000 pages a month in material are to be created, including some sound, downloadable video and bulletin boards. Discovery expects to charge users $24 annually; the site will carry ads as well. Marketing will include cross-channel promotion and advertising elsewhere in the fall.
