Disney No. 2 for Japan

Published on .

Walt Disney Co. moved a step further in its plans for a second theme park in Japan. Disney and Japan's Oriental Land Co. have completed a study of the basic design concept and business arrangements for Tokyo Disneysea, a park based on ocean themes that would be located next to the Tokyo Disneyland theme park. Design and development will continue for approximately 18 months, Disney said, before a final decision will be made on whether to begin construction. The target opening year is 2001.
