Disney and Infoseek adopt privacy ad policy

Published on .

Walt Disney Co., North Hollywood, Calif. and Infoseek Corp., Sunnyvale, Calif., which jointly operate the Go Network Internet portal, will no longer accept Internet-based ads from Web sites that don't post privacy guidelines. Those guidelines must clearly state how a site collects and uses an individual's personal information gathered online. The policy goes into effect Oct. 1 on the Go Network, which includes Disney.com, ESPN.com, Family.com, ABC.com and ABCNews.com. Go, following recent moves by IBM Corp. and Microsoft Corp., also announced it would no longer place ads on sites without clear privacy policies.
