Disney launches kids service

Disney Online on Wednesday opened Disney's Daily Blast, an Internet-based subscription service for kids. Families can get a free two-week trial of Disney's Daily Blast by signing up on the Internet at http://www.disneyblast.com. Disney will sell subscriptions for $4.95 per month. Subscribers of the Microsoft Network get free access to the service.

The site will offer up to a dozen new "programs" each day, plus interactive comic books, games, sports highlights from ESPN and news from ABC. Disney's Family.com, a separate Web site targeting parents, is included in Daily Blast. Disney recently acquired Family Planet from Starwave Corp., a company in which it holds an equity investment, and will merge the two family services in about six weeks.
