McDonald's Corp., Oak Brook, Ill., said future links with Walt Disney Co. attractions include the opening of a McDonald's french fry kiosk in Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., and a McDonald's restaurant in Disneyland Paris. Also possible is a link to Disney's Epcot Center Millennium project in Orlando, said Walt Disney Attractions President Judson Green. Separately, McDonald's USA Chairman-CEO Jack Greenberg said U.S. Happy Meal sales were up 7% in 1997 thanks in part to the fast-food giant's link to Disney. Last year was the first year of a 10-year global alliance between the two companies. McDonald's said its tie-in with the upcoming animated Disney feature film "Mulan" for the first time will use the same Happy Meal toys in all its restaurants around the world. Executives said the toys will be the biggest and most sophisticated ever used in a Happy Meals promotion. Also, McDonald's TV commercials for its tie-in with the Disney feature film "Armageddon" will be shot on that movie's set by the film's director, Michael Bey. Executives from McDonald's and Disney spoke at an event in Orlando in advance of the opening of Disney's new Animal Kingdom attraction.
