DMA subsidiary acquires Merge.Net

As expected, the Association for Interactive Media, a subsidiary of the Direct Marketing Association, has agreed to acquire Merch.Net, a consortium of electronic commerce solution providers. Under the terms of the agreement, the executive committee of Merch.Net, comprised of executives from Impulse Buy Network, LinkShare Corp., Inktomi, Binary Compass Enterprises and Netcentives, will become the e-commerce leadership committee of the DMA.

Also on the direct marketing front, the Internet Direct Marketing Bureau held its inaugural meeting at the E-Biz show in Scottsdale, Ariz., Nov. 11 to discuss initiatives including anti-spamming policies, privacy issues and Internet direct marketing standards and practices.
