DMB&B's Rutman to join Carat

Published on .

In a surprise move, Charlie Rutman will join Carat MBS, New York, in a high-level management and new-business role, according to executives close to the media independent. Mr. Rutman is currently senior VP-media director at D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, New York, in charge of the 46-person media planning group for Coca-Cola Co. One of Carat MBS' biggest clients is MCI, for which it handles spot TV buying only. Furthermore, Carat North America, which also includes Carat ICG (the shop that just won the $100 million Ameritech media assignment) is believed to be close to ending its longtime search for a CEO. Both Mr. Rutman and Carat North America President Stig B. Karlsen declined to comment.
