Published on .

James Docherty was named president of a newly formed interactive unit of American Media, Lantana, Fla. He also will serve as publisher of the Star, a job that has been open since Tony Hoyt left in May. Mr. Docherty is the former president of Hachette Filipacchi New Media. He resigned from that post Aug. 20 after clashing with new Hachette President-CEO Jack Kliger. Mr. Docherty rejoins American Media President-CEO David Pecker, who was president-CEO of Hachette prior to Mr. Kliger.
