Donnelley sells lists online

Donnelley Marketing Monday unveiled The List Store, an online consumer list ordering site on the Web. Customers can order between 500 and 50,000 names in a variety of formats for both telemarketing and direct mail usage. The site also features a how-to guide to direct marketing and information about the different types of lists available to marketers.

BBB to establish service on We.

The Council of Better Business Bureaus, San Francisco, will announce July 30 a major Web service that endorses BBB-compliant consumer practices on the Web.

To launch during the first quarter of 1997, the BBB service was built with sponsorship from companies including Ameritech Corp., AT&T Corp., Eastman Kodak Co., GTE Corp., Hewlett-Packard Co., Netscape Corp., Sony Electronics, U.S. West Media Group and Visa U.S.A.

Companies participating in the Council of Better Business Bureaus service will display an encrypted seal on their online advertising; this seal would be withdrawn if the company failed to address consumer complaints.
