Dot-com Q4 ads to reach $2 billion, but consolidation seen ahead

Dot-com companies will spend some $2 billion on advertising this quarter and are on pace to spend $7.4 billion over the next year, according to an analysis by Advertising Age.

The analysis based on a review of 524 dot-com and Web companies appears as part of a 76-page Interactive special report published as a supplement to the Nov. 1 Ad Age.

Ad Age examines dotcom spending by medium and how it is --in the short term-- changing the ad landscape. The section also profiles the i.20 -- 20 key people who shape interactive advertising.
