DoubleClick expands into Japan

Published on .

Online ad network DoubleClick on Tuesday took the wraps off DoubleClick Japan, which it calls the first ad network in the Pacific Rim. The Tokyo-based company, which officially opens its doors Sept. 1, is a joint venture of DoubleClick, Internet developer Trans Cosmos, telecommunications giant Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp. and NTT Advertising, NTT's in-house ad agency and Web developer.

DoubleClick Japan is modeled after the U.S. ad network, with a collection of high-profile Japanese Web sites. Japan is the largest Internet advertising market outside the U.S.
