International Dairy Queen, Minneapolis, launched a TV campaign dubbed "Blizzard '98" in 100 spot markets to tout its signature Blizzard ice cream treat. McDonald's Corp. is readying the launch of a similar product, dubbed McFlurry. The DQ campaign from new agency Grey Advertising, New York, runs for five weeks and features a new branded candy mix-in each week. The company has doubled spending for the product over last year, said DQ VP-Marketing Gary See. He declined to say what was being spent.
