DreamWorks taps Disney execs

Published on .

DreamWorks SKG has raided Walt Disney Co. for talent to build its animation studio. DreamWorks hired Gary Krisel and Bruce Cranston, who DreamWorks said are two keys executives behind the growth in animated TV series and direct-to-video animation not only at Disney but within the entertainment industry. Mr. Krisel, president of Walt Disney Animation, and Mr. Cranston, senior VP-development for Walt Disney Television Animation, will remain at Disney until their contracts expire at yearend. More defections from Disney to DreamWorks, owned and managed in part by ex-Disney executive Jeffrey Katzenberg, are expected.
