DTC drug ads should hit $1 bil for 1998

Competitive Media Reporting estimates total direct-to-consumer drug advertising for 1998 will top $1 billion, up more than 30% from the year before. Pharmaceutical companies spent $896.7 million on DTC ads during the first three quarters of 1998, 32.3% more than during the same period in 1997, according to CMR.
