Dumped client pickets Goodby

Pete's Brewing Co., Palo Alto, Calif., a microbrewer dumped by Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in favor of the $30 million Bud Ice account from Anheuser-Busch, staged a demonstration in front of the company's San Francisco offices this afternoon themed "No Buddy ices Pete's Wicked Ale." "We had a pretty good thing going and we've been left in the cold," said Pete Slosberg, founder, who starred in the microbrewer's spots that ran in about a dozen cities nationwide. The company, with annual sales of about $60 million, said it had paid almost a half-million dollars in fees to Goodby so far this year. Goodby officials refused comment and referred calls to a spokesman for Budweiser. Pete's said it has not yet begun a search for a new agency.
