(April 26, 2001) -- Two online direct marketing companies reported earnings for the quarter ended March 31, both posting revenue increases while suffering losses.

Digital Impact, of San Mateo, Calif., reported net losses of $29 million on $10.2 million in revenue for its fiscal fourth quarter ended March 31, a rise over net losses of $6.4 million on $5.7 million in revenue in the year-earlier period. Fiscal year net losses came to $56.7 million, up from $21.7 million last year. Fiscal-year revenue increased 209% to $40.2 million from $13 million.

E-mail marketing and messaging company MessageMedia, of Superior, Colo., saw a 29% decrease in net losses applicable to common shares to $13.5 million for the quarter, from $19 million the previous year, while revenue for the quarter rose 24.3% to $8.7 million from $7 million. -- Cara Beardi
