Net loss for the second quarter was $35.1 million, or 27 cents per share, approximately the same as the net loss of the first quarter, compared with a loss of $35.2 million, or 29 cents, from last year during the same time. This loss includes a $4.1 million write-down of equity investments in other companies. The company said it expects cash flow loss for the year of $17 million to $27 million, less than most predicted.
EarthLink ended the second quarter with approximately 4.9 million paying subscribers, up 97,000 from March 31, and 1.2 million from the year ealier period. Average monthly subscriber churn was 3.9%, the same as the preceding quarter, and improved from 4.2% for the prior year quarter. -- Adrienne Mand
