EBAY TRIES NEWSPAPER CLASSIFIED SECTION

Published on .

(May 4, 2001) -- Online auction company eBay has launched a newspaper classified service. The new product, to be called eBay Seller Classifieds, is initially offering the service in Minneapolis' Star Tribune and the St. Petersburg Times in Florida. The company will evaluate expansion after testing those two markets. The service will appear in a special eBay section of print classifieds in the newspapers, where people can put items up for sale that can be bid for on eBay.com. -- Catharine P. Taylor
