eBay pulls off robust IPO

Online auction site eBay pulled off a robust initial public offering Sept. 24. The stock, which had an initial offering price of $18 a share, opened at $53.50 and closed at $47.38 The San Jose, Calif.,-based start-up has more than 1 million registered users who buy and sell antiques, books, and items in more than 1,000 categories.
