EC awards Ogilvy PR Telecoms account

BRUSSElS -- Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide in Brussels has won the tender for a multi-million dollar-budget from the DG XIII of the European Commission. The DG XIII is responsible for telecoms regulation and development of a competitive IT marketplace.

A dozen agencies tendered for the account, including Rowland, which came in second and will take specific assignments.

Ogilvy PR Brussels participated with five other WPP-agencies: The Henley Center, Production +, Ogilvy One, Enterprise IG and BMRB.

The contract runs for four years and can be renewed on a yearly base afterwards. Agency spokesman Nicholas Lunt said DG XIII has instructed it to: "Make every European citizen, from the man in the street to the highest political leaders, aware of uses and the utility of new telecoms and information technologies.
