EC takes step toward harmonizing ad rules

BRUSSELS -- The European Commission has pro posed a series of measures to facilitate the cross-border provision of advertising while at the same time ensuring that public interest objectives in areas such as health and consumer protection are achieved.

The EC has agreed to set up a commercial communications' expert group from represent atives from member states. It has also agreed to set up a commercial communications information database of national and EU regulations and self-regulatory codes.
