(Aug. 15, 2001) -- Online technology retailer Egghead.com, Menlo Park, Calif., has agreed to seel its assets to Fry's Electronics as part of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding and has fired about two-thirds of its employees.

Egghead.com will continue to operate its businesss under Bankruptcy Court supervision pending the close of the sale, at which time Fry's is expected to operate the Egghead.com site.
