Published on .

Elgin Syferd/ DDB Needham, Seattle, laid off 12 employees, or 13.2% of its staff, last week after losing the $2.5 million West One Bancorp regional advertising account. The Boise, Idaho-based bank was one of the agency's largest clients. Insiders at the agency, which had roughly $65 million in billings before the account loss, said a second wave of layoffs could follow.

Jr. chomps into new campaign
CKE Restaurants' Carl's Jr. chain today overhauls its image yet again with a campaign bearing the tagline, "If it doesn't get all over the place, it doesn't belong in your face." Conspicuously free of Happy Star imagery or any reference to founder Carl Karcher, the ads from Mendelsohn/Zien, Santa Monica, show customers enjoying big, juicy burgers. Total year spending for the account is $29 million. Mendelsohn won the work from Grey Advertising, Los Angeles, in February.
