‘Elle’ to enter teen niche

Published on .

The teen girl magazine niche got more crowded Dec. 5, as Hachette Filipacchi Magazines announced the launch of Elle Girl. The magazine will target the 12-17 set, and debut in August 2001 with a back-to-school issue. Publisher of the new title is Linda Mason, 45, a former publisher of Details. Former GQ Senior Editor Brandon Holley, 34, is editor in chief. Elle Girl will launch with a rate base of 300,000. The August issue will be its sole offering in 2001; four issues are slated for 2002. Ironically, Ms. Mason most recently worked on Conde Nast Publications' test launch of Teen Vogue.
