ESPN adds India

ESPN is set to launch ESPN India, a 24-hour pay cable sports network, in conjunction with its distributor in India, Modi Entertainment Network. The launch will be the live telecast of the India-New Zealand Cricket Test Series, beginning Oct. 18 in Bangalore. After the first quarter of 1996 ESPN will be available throughout India on a free preview basis until the end of next year. The network will broadcast in both Hindi and English.
