ESPN Nascar race ratings up

ESPN, Bristol, Conn., said average ratings for its Nascar Winston Cup race telecasts rose for the sixth consecutive year in 1997 to a 4.3 for 14 races (3.05 million households on average), based on Nielsen Media Research data. ESPN said its most-watched Nascar races, the Nov. 16 season-ending Napa 500 and the March 2 Pontiac Excitement 400, reached 3.75 million homes.
