ESPN, Bristol, Ct., launches on Oct. 16 a new national campaign for its SportsCenter show featuring 11 athletes in six print and 25 documentary-style TV spots. The spots--varying in length from 15 to 60 seconds--will appear in sports and late-night programs. Print ads will appear in Sports Illustrated, The Sporting News, Rolling Stone, Sports Illustrated and other titles. Athletes participating range from car racer Michael Andretti to Olympic gymnast Mary Lou Retton to the New York Rangers' Mike Richter.
