ESPN signs X Games sponsors

ESPN said the six "gold" sponsors of its 1997 Winter X Games have renewed for the 1998 event, set for Jan. 15-18 in Crested Butte, Colo. They are AT&T Corp., Nike, PepsiCo's Mountain Dew, Procter & Gamble Co.'s Pringles, Taco Bell and Volkswagen. New associate sponsors for the 1998 event are SpeedStick Ultimate and M&M/Mars' Starburst Fruits Twists. ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC will televise 17 hours of the Winter X Games, including 12 hours in prime time. ESPN International will distribute the games outside the U.S. Sponsorship terms were not disclosed.
