ESPN Star Sports creates new senior programming role

SINGAPORE -- ESPN STAR Sports, an equal joint venture of ESPN Inc. and News Corp.'s STAR TV Network, named Russell E. Wolff to the new position of vice president-programming.

Mr. Wolff will hold responsibilities relating to programming strategy, program acquisitions and scheduling for both ESPN and STAR Sports satellite channels. Based in Singapore, he will report to Kelly Butler, senior vice president-programming.

Prior to his new assignment, Mr. Wolff was Hong Kong-based vice president at ESPN Pacific Rim, where he oversaw ESPN joint ventures in Japan, Australia and New Zealand, Asiawide ESPN syndication and new business ventures.

"Russell's knowledge of the sports business and extensive experience in the cable and satellite industry should provide us with a valuable addition to the programming team," says Alexander Brown, managing director of ESPN STAR Sports, a sports programming alliance.

Mr. Wolff has also worked at MTV Networks, Paramount Communications and Leo Burnett Co.
