ESPN Star Sports promotes exec in Asia

SINGAPORE--ESPN Star Sports has promoted Vib Sharma to senior VP-advertising & integrated sales -- a post made vacant following the sudden departure of Chris McDonald to the U.S. for undisclosed reasons.

Mr. Sharma, formerly VP-advertising sales at ESPN Star Sports, will assume overall responsibility for advertising, sponsorship and integrated sales divisions at ESPN STAR Sports and manage a team of sales personnel based in Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei and throughout India. The company, a 50:50 joint venture between Star TV and ESPN, owns and operates Star Sports and ESPN.

Mr. Sharma's previous experience in advertising sales and TV media planning and buying includes stints at Star channels in India and London-based work at Zenith Media and Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.
