ESPN to test cable modem

ESPN Enterprises, New York, and Starwave Corp. are developing new broadband technologies to increase multimedia and real-time viewing of ESPNET SportsZone coverage on the World Wide Web. The prototype technology, code-named Broadband ESPNET SportsZone, uses a more powerful cable modem enabling users to enjoy video imagery increased to TV quality at 30 frames per second; data transmission billed as 1,000 times quicker than standard phone modems; and image animation and dynamic page updating.
